Welcome to our site for the restoration of the faith and the community.
Thank you for coming. This website exists to help form communities of Christians and restore faithfulness in the Church. In a Church era when much biblical doctrine is scorned, and a secular era which is hostile to the Christian faith and openly attempts to silence its members and branches, it seems restoring the Church is essential, especially through community. In fact, it is my thought that community is the best way, perhaps now the only way, to preserve our faith and values at a time of war with the culture.
This effort was inspired by the well-known book the Benedict Option, by Rod Dreher. Rod Dreher takes the historical example of St. Benedict and the Benedictine monks as a starting point, and provides further examples of how Christians can live their faith in community. Community might be anything from living close to other church members and having regular fellowship and accountability, to a monastic effort requiring much more spiritual discipline, modest living and service to man.
I will present various avenues of building community here, not limited to monastics, and even not limited to organized communities. I will include Christian businesses as well. Christian medical sharing. I will also go to non-Christian models to learn from, as there are some very good ones; even our Lord told His disciples that the sons of this world are sometimes more shrewd than the sons of the light (Luke 16:8). We should not be ashamed to learn from their insights.
Currently, it appears most Christians have a very negative attitude toward community, especially if it includes living according to set standards and being held accountable. They also have negative views of monastic groups, often viewing them merely as isolating themselves from the world. I hope to change some of those attitudes, which I believe, while they hold a grain of truth, are often misinformed and seek to smear these groups, in part because worldly Christians today are afraid of the seriousness of their own faith, and do not want to face up to it. It seems easier to smear serious efforts to live the faith, than it is to make those efforts ourselves.
Please consider each of the areas I cover in this website. I have included links to models of Christian community, from dissident Christians under communist rule to the orthodox Jewish walk of faith to a variety of other communities and Christian-based institutions. I have also included subjects such as traditional liturgy and confessions of faith. I hope that it inspires you to help restore the Church; to help the whole Church live its faith. I also hope it inspires you to bring stronger community to your own local church or neighborhood. I hope it inspires you to bring godly values to your businesses, even though you will likely suffer for it.
Living in community is not something we should only do in reaction to the collapse of the West and of the Church. Rather, it is something I believe we should have been doing all along. It is our life in Christ. It is good. It is beautiful. When we sincerely live it in community, the world will see its beauty, come and want to know more about Christ.
Thank you very much. Please read. And pray.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
Titus 2:11-15
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
